You might want to try Pew Research Center: http://www.pewresearch.org/  It is a credible source of information. Type in “prison overcrowding” in the search box.  They have surveys and reports on many subjects.

The NAU library’s Criminal Justice LibGuide would also be a good place to start finding additional articles on this topic:  http://national.libguides.com/criminal_justice/findarticles

Click on the first database listed. Search for "Prison overcrowding." You could also add the terms by using this search: prison overcrowding and (survey or questionnaire) Submit your search and you will be taken to the results page.  On the left side of your results page is a section that you can use to narrow your search down by date. (The boxes for full-text and peer-reviewed should already be checked.) I'd recommend you narrow down to articles published within the last 5-7 years.
