How do I cite a source when the author and date are both missing?

Answer

Search the source very thoroughly for both an author and a date. Remember that an author of an article or website may be a corporate or government author - for example, Mayo Clinic or Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Reference page citation: When both the author and date are missing, substitute the title for the author. Use n.d. in place of the date. Example:

Every idea needs a Medium. (n.d.). Medium. https://medium.com/about

In-text citation: When both the author and date are missing, substitute the title for the author. The title should be italicized in the in-text citation, if the title is italicized on the Reference page. Example:

(Every idea needs a Medium, n.d.).
