How do I find a court case using Google Scholar?

Answer

On the Google Scholar homepage (scholar.google.com), click on the button for case law.

  • If you know the court name or location, click on "Select courts." On the Select Courts page, check the appropriate box or boxes and click "Done."

On the Google Scholar homepage, type the case name or citation in the search box.

Page numbers are in the left margin of the case.

For an advanced search, look in the upper-left hand corner of the Google Scholar homepage and click on the three lines by the words "Google Scholar." In the Advanced Search box, search "all keywords," an exact phrase, at least one of the words, or without certain words, and by date.
